Daisy Bubble

A Price Crash on Galapagos

After Arlene the giant tortoise walks down the aisle wearing a crown of daisies, everyone wants some of the beautiful blooms for themselves. Soon his customers start buying flowers from each other at even higher markups, hoping to sell them later for a profit. By the time word spreads that more daisies are on the way, this bubble is ready to burst.

  • Daisy Bubble: A Price Crash on Galapagos, is a story about animals who get caught up in a frenzy over daisies, sending the flowers’ price soaring, then crashing. It was inspired by a high-profile event in early 2021 when a large number of people—including many young, inexperienced investors—tried to cash in on a ‘short squeeze’ of GameStop stock.
