In this week’s At Home with AW video, Lisa celebrates with a read-aloud about the brave Lumber Jills, and shares with viewers Albert Whitman’s She Made History series. Our She Made History titles celebrate women who have changed the world, featuring books that inspire readers with true stories of women throughout history who, despite many obstacles, persisted and forever changed our world.
During World War II, Great Britain needed lumber, but there weren’t enough men to cut down the trees. Enter the fearless Lumber Jills! These young women may not have had much woodcutting experience, but they came together to do their part. Enjoy this lyrical story of home front heroism and female friendship with this At Home with AW storytime.
