Plot Summary

Digging for treasure in their yard, Kyle and his pesky sister, Lizzy, find a robot head.  Kyle adds pieces of scrap metal for a body, plugs the whole thing in, and Rusteye the Robot comes alive!  Unfortunately, everything Rusteye touches - including Kyle's parents - turn to metal.  Kyle can't stop his rampaging robot.  Lizzy things she knows how - but will Kyle listen?

A hilariously funny science fiction story for robot fanatics - and big brothers - everywhere!

Reviews

"The digitally enhanced collage illustrations show silver-toned trees, pets, and parents. Endpapers resemble a sheet of crumbled paper with diagrams on how to make and dismantle a robot. A funny take on sibling squabbles." School Library Journal

"Sharp lines, clear colors, and simply drawn figures make the illustrations as uncomplicated as the story line, and even if readers sneer at the unlikely finale (a chastened Kyle joins Wanda for a doll tea party), the episode’s point won’t be lost on kids similarly afflicted with worshipful younger sibs."
Booklist

"The endearing, entertaining story shows a typical brother sister relationship with a pleasing ending--when they listen to each other."
Children's Literature

"This story would be a great help for those who want to teach children about progression and sequencing, plus it has a tidy moral about sibling relationships. Steve Gritton’s illustrations are bold and colorful, packed with humor and delight...This book would make a great read-aloud for young children."
